What Are Implant Dentures?

Implant dentures consist of dental implants surgically inserted into the jaw attached to dental restorations designed to replace a complete arch of teeth. These devices can deliver a range of impressive benefits that traditional appliances cannot such as superior chewing power, easier oral hygiene requirements, and incredible longevity. The team at the Elegant Dentistry is qualified and equipped to complete the entire dental implant placement process in-house so you won’t have to worry about seeing an outside surgeon who uses a different pricing structure. We offer two types of implant dentures, those being:

Fixed/Permanent Implant Dentures

Fixed implant dentures should be impossible to remove without the help of a qualified dentist, and they usually require four to six implants. While these devices are incredibly lifelike, they require the patient to have more jawbone mass.

Removable Implant Dentures

Removable dentures, sometimes called “snap-on dentures,” are attached to the implants using clips or ball sockets so the patient can take them out for hygiene purposes. These devices must be removed daily for thorough cleaning sessions, but they usually only require two to five dental implants.

The Implant Denture Process

The skilled dental team at the Elegant Dentistry can complete the entire process of placing implant dentures in our office. This will include four stages:

Consultation: The patient receives a thorough oral exam so our dentist can determine the best way to restore their smile. In some cases, preliminary treatments like gum disease therapy may be needed before the restorations can be placed.
Surgery: This procedure is rendered painless by anesthetics, and the patient will need several months afterward for their implants to fuse with their jawbone through the natural process of osseointegration.
Abutment: After the patient’s implants have bonded with their jaws, they’ll come back to our office to receive abutment pieces and be fitted for their restoration.
Delivery: When the dentures are complete, the patient will return to our office to have them anchored in place. After any final adjustments, they’ll be ready to show off their new smile.
